GreenSpense to Represent Israel at the 2013 International Cleantech Open Ideas Competition

As the winner of the national Cleantech competition, GreenSpense will represent Israel in the international competition this November in Silicon Valley

12 billion aerosol sprays, gels and foams are manufactured annually; over 500,000 tons of gas (used as a propellant in aerosols) contribute to the expensive packaging and environmental danger of today’s aerosol canisters. An Israeli company, GreenSpense, has developed an eco-friendly solution to the challenges and dangers presented by aerosol containers.

GreenSpense’s Eco-Sleeve does away with the need for gas and pressurized-metal-canisters, used for sprays, gels and foam products, which make aerosols polluting, dangerous and expensive to pack. Made from innovative material using nanotechnology, GreenSpense’s Eco-Sleeve unleashes design creativity in packaging shapes and materials, providing a huge marketing and ecological advantage to producers, while reducing packaging and product costs and eliminating the use of harmful gas.

GreenSpense was founded in 2011 and is a portfolio company of Trendlines Agtech (Mofet), a venture investment company which focuses on the development of innovative companies in the agricultural and ecological sphere.

Steve Rhodes, Trendlines’ Chairman: « We are extremely proud of GreenSpense and believe that the company will proudly represent Israeli innovation at the international competition. Their win is testimony to their professionalism and commitment to producing innovative, leading products that promise to improve our quality of life. »

The Open Cleantech Competition in Israel marked its fifth year and is open to early-stage cleantech companies. Judges included academics and investment experts in the field. GreenSpense will represent Israelat the International Cleantech Open Ideas Competition next month, inCalifornia, in the framework of Global Entrepreneurship Week. It is one of the most prestigious international competitions in the cleantech field.

Gadi Har-Shai, CEO of GreenSpense, « GreenSpense is proud to be a part of the green revolution that will enable the use of cheaper and more environment-friendly products. Our technology significantly reduces the amount of harmful materials currently used in traditional aerosols and will undoubtedly contribute to a better and safer world. »
